Princes Street

The View

This postcard by Marshall Wane & Co, Edinburgh, in the 'North British Railway Series looks to the east along Princes Street from the Rutland Hotel at the West End of the street.

There is a good mix of traffic here, including a stage coach approaching the fountain (lower-centre) at the junction of Princes Street and Lothian Road.

The building on the right is St John's Church at the West End.

Early-1900s

This postcard looks to me to be in the style that was used in the early-1900s.  The shop blinds can be seen to be out along Princes Street at that time, to provide shelter from the sun.
