Cowgate

Looking SW

Many of th old Police Boxes, now no longer used by the Police, can be found in the streets of Edinburgh.  This one is at the eastern end of Cowgate, close to the Salvation Army building at the foot of Pleasance.

This box appears to be sound, but it has been splattered with white paint.

Many adverts, like those on this board, were displayed on boards around Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2010.  Most were taken down when the Fringe ended, but not these.

This street can be busy with night life in the late evenings, but it was very quiet when I took this photo, early on a Saturday afternoon.

The steps in the background lead to Guthrie Street.  There has been some building work in this area recently, and I think the stairs may now be closed.
