Granton Beach

2004

The view above, across Granton Beach, looking towards Leith is similar to the scent about a hundred years earlier.  The old cottages and Wardie Hotel are still in Lower Granton Road, together with a few newer houses'

Most of Wardie House has been demolished and new bungalows built in its grounds in Wardie House Lane.  Flour mills have been built in Leith Harbour at the extreme left of the picture, and there are now extensive further housing developments in Leith Harbour (off the picture to the left).

Update 2006

Wardie Hotel

Wardie Hotel, Lower Granton Road, the building at the extreme right of the large photograph above (and the prominent building in the centre of the picture found by clicking on the thumbnail image above) is now behind scaffolding, being converted from a hotel to eight apartments.
