Princes Street Gardens

Trains

This view looks down on West Princes Street Gardens and the Ross Bandstand from Edinburgh Castle.

Two trains have just left Edinburgh Waverley station and are passing through the gardens.

Princes Street and Calton Hill

Princes Street, with shops on its northern side can be seen running across the picture, above the gardens.

The landmarks towards the upper-right corner of the photo are:

-  the Royal Scottish Academy and National Gallery of Scotland
(two low buildings at the foot of the Mound)

-  the spire of the Scott Monument and

-  the tower of the Balmoral Hotel

and in the extreme upper right, on Calton Hill:

-  the National Monument and

-  the Nelson Monument
