South Queensferry

Pillar Box

I took this photo of the pillar box, situated in Edinburgh Road, South Queensferry, on December 17, 2010.

It is a 'Penfold' box,  a style that was common in the 19th century.  I assume that this is a reproduction model.  Several reproductions have been installed in recent years at popular tourist sites.

The Forth Bridge  opened in 1890.  It can be seen in the background.
