M T Section

"This 'posed' Group photo was the M.T. Section.  I believe the buildings still exist-.  it was the A.A. Live Munitions store in WWII.

I am the fitter working on the bike observed by Kenny Ogg from James Ross garage Lochrin."

West Pilton Camp

"West Pilton Camp was an A.A. Battery during the War it was built around 1940 along with a Rocket Battery at Crewe Toll.

Even as late as 1950 there were nothing but fields all the way to Cramond and Davidson's Mains. The Camp was handed over to the T.A. around 1947.  519 Regiment Royal Artillery was raised there under the command of Lt. Col. McLeod."

Question

Lt Col Macleod

Terry Madigan, Surrey, has contacted me and asked:

"Do you know if he Lt Col Macleod is still living?

I think he was my Dad's Commanding Officer in 53 Heavy Regiment RA in the war."

Terry mentioned that he has been compiling notes from his Dad's diary from 1945.

Terry wrote:

"My Dad was in 53 HEAVY and it's only since he died that I have been trying to put together the War movements of 53 HEAVY.

I would love to find some surviving members. I'm sure there must be a few . They may be about 85 years of age, but that's perfectly feasible."

Thank you to Bob Henderson, Burdiehouse, Edinburgh for replying to the question above.

" I am not able to help Terry Madigan directly, but a great place to get answers about the Royal Artillery in the 2nd World War is     www.2ndww.blogspot.com

The group who run this are mainly old gunners from that time and between them have encyclopeadic knowledge of all things Royal Artillery of the 2nd World War.

I am a sometimes contributor to the blog."
