Holyrood from Calton Hill

Three Photographers

I found it interesting to see just how similar these three photos were to each other. 

The Foreground

Many of the old postcards of Holyrood Palace and Abbey show little or no foreground detail, so I found it interesting to see the three photos above, with their squarer format, including some of the houses in Low Calton in the foreground.

Looking at the foreground detail, including the house below the palace with chimneys on its gable ends (lower centre in each of the photos at the top of this page) it seems that all three photos must have been taken from very similar positions.
