Late Afternoon Le Monde lies immediately to the east of The Dome on the south side of George Street. Please click on the thumbnail image below to zoom out and see a little more around the building: - on the left, the eastern edge of The Dome. - on the the fleet of Lothian Buses, this one with an 'all over' advert for Edinburgh Zoo, featuring a tiger. George Street When I first came to Edinburgh in 1963, the financial district consisted of St Andrew Square, Charlotte Square, and George Street which linked these two squares in Edinburgh New Town. Now many of these financial institutions have been converted to bars, Cafés and shops. The building in the photo at the top of this page is now Le Monde. It used to one of several offices of The Standard Life Assurance Company in George Street, but was converted to Le Monde hotel and restaurant in 2006. |
