Saughton House

Government Offices

Saughton House is a complex of Government offices in Broomhouse Drive, about four miles to the west of the Centre of Edinburgh, close to The Gyle district.

Saughton House comprises blocs of offices, all two storeys high,  on either side of a central entrance.  A question about the original purpose of the buildings has been asked on this page of the EdinPhoto web site.  It has been suggested that it may have been built, post World War II, as an emergency hospital.

Location

The blocks to the east of the entrance can be seen on the photo above.  The photo was taken looking to the SE across the grass from close to where the new tram line from Leith to Edinburgh Airport is being built on the former guided busway.

The Pentland Hills can be seen in the upper right corner of the photo.
