One of
the events at
The Gathering, 2009 in Edinburgh was a
parade of members of clans up the Royal Mile from Holyrood Park to
Edinburgh Castle Esplanade.
The
Clan Parade left Holyrood Park at 7.45 pm
on Saturday July 25. Marchers were grouped by clan, following their
clan banners up the Royal Mile. They marched in
alphabetical order of clan. Over 7,000 marchers were expected to
take part.
Here, a
piper crosses the junction with George IV Bridge as he makes his way up
the Royal Mile. St Giles' church can be seen in the background.
It looks
to me asif the piper and drummers are almost floating above the ground, as
if they have been added on a different layer. (I don't know how that
has happened. The photo has not been manipulated, other than
brightness, contrast, etc.)
