Dave wrote:

Permit to Enter Leith Docks

"My grandfather, William Tyrell, was exempt from call-up for World War I because of his occupation.  He was a hammerman, riveting ships in Leith Docks.

The photos above are of his Permit to Enter Leith Docks, dated 1915.

William Tyrell, owner of the Permit to Enter Leith Docks, above,  is on the left in this photo, dressed in his scout uniform.  He was Leader of 1st Leith Scouts.  The Photo was taken in 1925.
