William Tyrell
Dave tells me that:
- The photo above
was taken in 1915
- His grandfather, William Tyrell,
lived in Leith. His last known address is 45 Sandport Street.
- His grandfather was exempt from call-up for
World War I because of his occupation. He was a hammerman, riveting
ships in Leith Docks. Here is a copy of his Permit to Enter Leith
Docks, dated 1915. It appears to have been well used.
