Roads Closed North St David Street, has now become very busy (July 2009) as several of the surrounding streets have been closed to traffic to allow the preparation work for Edinburgh's new tram route to be carried out. North St David Street is normally a 'one-way' street for traffic heading north, but with the closure of North S Andrew Street, it now carries 'two-way' traffic. North St David Street is currently also used by buses that would normally use the Mound. The Mound is another of the roads that is currently closed to traffic, to allow the tram work to be carried out, so buses that normally use the Mound are currently going via St Andrew Square, then Waverley Bridge and Bank Street. |

Buses LEFT: The bus on the left with the black and white advert is one of Edinburgh's newest buses, a Wright Eclipse Gemini. It was delivered in 2009 and branded for route 26. Ten of these buses, including the one in this photo have 'all over' adverts for Edinburgh Zoo. There are five different themes. This one is zebras. CENTRE: This is one of a batch of six small single-deck buses, Optare Solo SRs. They are used on the shorter and quieter routes operated by Lothian Buses and MacTours. RIGHT: One of the oldest buses in the Lothian Buses fleet, a 1996 Volvo Olympian, due to be withdrawn from service soon, possibly late July 2009. This is painted in the red livery used for routes 15/15A, the only routes that now operate without the harlequin-liveried low floor buses that can accommodate wheelchairs. |
