Mayfield is about 3 miles SE of Dalkeith in Midlothian, and about 10 miles SE of the centre of Edinburgh. The bus terminus at Mayfield is in Bogwood Road on the southern edge of the estate. There is open land to the south between Mayfield and Gorebridge, about two miles away, then the Moorfoot Hills |

The 3/3A route is branded: 'Club Class - across the city & midlothian' Buses on the route have yellow roofs and a black '3 of Clubs' with the words 'Club Class'. |
