King's Road - Route 12 |
The View This view looks to the west towards Seafield and Leith, along a surprisingly quiet King's Road at Portobello The housing behind the bus is built on the land where Portobello Power Station once stood. The roads leading from the roundabout are: - Sir Harry Lauder Road (to Musselburgh and the Edinburgh City Bypass). - Portobello Road (to Edinburgh). - Seafield Road East (to Leith). - King's Road (short cul-de-sac leading to a Café beside the Firth of Forth). Over about the next three months, from June 2008, road works are being carried out at this roundabout, to replace it by traffic lights. |
The Terminus This terminus is described on the bus timetables and destination blinds as 'King's Road', but it is actually at the King's Road end of Portobello Road. The bus here has just arrived from Gyle Centre in the west of Edinburgh and is waiting at its terminus on the north side of Portobello Road. When it's time to return Gyle Centre, it will turn at Baileyfield Industrial Estate, then pick up passengers on the south side of Portobello Road. |
