The Terminus
This view looks to the
south down Canning Street towards the Western Approach Road.
The Head Office of
Standard Life at the corner of Lothian Road and the
Western Approach Road is a short distance to the west (left)
out of the picture.
The offices of
Standard Life Bank, now sold to
Barclays Bank, are straight ahead on the south side of the
Western Approach Road.

The Route
This route used to be
a private service for the staff of Standard Life who wished
to travel between the company's offices in Edinbrugh. It
then became a public service, Route 61, operated by Mac Tours,
a subsidiary of Lothian Buses.
Since about 2009, the route has been operated directly by
Lothian Buses as route 61. The route is still well
patronised by Standard Life staff. |
