Davidson's Mains Station

Thank you to Dr F A Dalrymple-Hamilton for allowing me to reproduce this Edwardian photograph of Davidson's Mains station, on the short line from Edinburgh Princes Street Station to Barnton about 4 miles to the west of the centre of Edinburgh.

Dr Dalrymple-Hamilton wrote:

"I suspect that this photo comes from an old postcard.

If you get any photos that were taken when Davidson's Mains Station was still open in BR days could you let me have a copy please?"

Dr F A Dalrymple Hamilton, Peebles, Peeblesshire, Scotland:  February 26 + 29, 2008.

I don't know of any photos of the station from British Railways' days.  If you know of any, please e-mail me, then I'll pass on your message to Dr Dalrymple Hamilton.

Thank you.    - Peter Stubbs

Old Postcards

Thank you to Don Hillman, Canada, who wrote to confirm that the photograph above is indeed from an old postcard.

It is one of two old postcards of Davidson's Mains that he has.  Both are from the Caledonia Series, published by J McCulloch.  The other card is of Davidson's Mains school.
