This photo was taken looking down from Regent Road onto the tracks leading to the east out of Waverley Station.

Here, the second of the day's two excursions from Edinburgh Waverley Station departs on time, at 4.12pm.

-   Edinburgh Old Town is in the background, upper left.

-   Edinburgh Castle is top centre, partly lost in the haze from the smoke of the engine.

-  The low building on the skyline towards the right of the photo is the Caledonian Hotel at Lothian Road, at the West End of Princes Street.

-  The new City of Edinburgh Council Offices on the corner of Market Street and New Street are on the left of the picture, with two cows from Edinburgh's Cow Parade, in 2006, grazing on the office's grass roof.
