"I'd guess that this photo would have been taken between 1946 and mid-1952 ,before adverts were introduced. (It might just be pre-WW2).

Car No.138 was built in 1933 at Shrubhill by Edin Corp. as No.29.  It was renumbered in 1935 to leave spaces for a batch of 20 "streamline" cars from outside builders, Nos.11-30.  (Nos.25-30 were built by Metro-Cammell of Birmingham.

Car 138 was allocated to Gorgie Depot which served the No.1 route.  The fleet number 138 was available as an electrified ex-cable car of the same number was scrapped in 1935.
