1951 Thank you to Jim Patience for sending me this photo, taken in June 1951, looking down on Granton Road from Granton View. The number of the tram cannot be identified. However, I feel that the picture captures the atmosphere of the period well. Granton Harbour Western Breakwater and Middle pier below it, run diagonally across the top of the photo. The large old buildings in Granton Square are top-left in the photo. The other buildings towards the top of this photo are: - on Middle Pier, close to Granton Square and - the backs of the buildings in Lower Granton Road. |
