John Watson's Hospital |
|
John Watson, writer to the signet, left funds in 1759 to endow a hospital for the maintenance and education of destitute children. The result was this building of Grecian architecture, designed by William Burn, the designer of the Edinburgh Academy. |

The building went on to become John Watson's school until 1975 then the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. |
