This attractive little engraving appeared in Views of Edinburgh & Its
Vicinity, published by Banks & Co, probably in the 1860s. My
edition has a message in ink written on the frontispiece and dated April
11 1869. This booklet has a soft cover, titled Views in the
Edinburgh District.
In this view, the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway can be seen passing
through Princes Street Gardens and beneath the National Gallery of
Scotland. The buildings in this view are:
