Edinburgh Old Town Fire - Dismantling of the Cowgate wall

When this photograph was taken work had just begun to dismantle these walls on the south side of Cowgate by hand, working from a platform suspended from a crane. This photograph was taken on Friday 20 December. Later the same day, the whole of the wall in Cowgate seen in this picture (except for the arched portion at the base) collapsed. |
