Altnabreac

Altnabreac in Caithness is a small halt that the trains from Inverness pass through, close to the end of their journey from Inverness to Wick and Thurso in the north of Scotland.  Trains stop at this station 'on request'.

There are mountains and many small lochs within a ten mile radius of the station, but I found little evidence of any sign of habitation.  There is no main road to the station.

These notice boards leaning on the farm gate at the station entrance give the train times  -  three trains each way most days, two trains each way on Sundays.

The station platform and old water tank can be seen in the background.
