Altnabreac in Caithness
is a small halt that the trains from Inverness pass through, close
to the end of their journey from Inverness to Wick and Thurso in the
north of Scotland. Trains stop at this station 'on request'.
There are mountains and many small lochs within a ten mile radius
of the station, but I found little evidence of any sign of
habitation. There is no main road to the station.
This view looks down the platform to the south-west. The
track here runs away from Wick and Thurso and eventually towards
Inverness.
With the wide open spaces in this part of the country, the skies
can look dramatic. |
