Bridge of Orchy

The West Highland Line from Crianlarich to Fort William passes through Upper Tyndrum then Bridge of Orchy before crossing Rannoch Moor.

This photograph was taken in the early afternoon on on 30 December 2000, following a heavy snowstorm the previous night.  There is little daylight at this time of year at Bridge of Orchy.  The station lights are already lit, giving a welcome to the station.

The station lies beside the West Highland Way, a long distance walk from Loch Lomond to Fort William.  It first opened in 1894.  The old waiting room on the platform in this view has now (2005) become a bunkhouse.
