One of the events at The Gathering, 2009 in Edinburgh was a parade of members of clans up the Royal Mile from Holyrood Park to Edinburgh Castle Esplanade. The Clan Parade left Holyrood Park at 7.45 pm on Saturday July 25. Marchers were grouped by clan, following their clan banners up the Royal Mile. They marched in alphabetical order of clan. Over 7,000 marchers were expected to take part. Here, the Clan Parade makes its way through the crowds lining the Lawnmarket. This view looks down the Lawnmarket towards the junction with George IV Bridge.
