The Christmas tree on
the Mound has become a centrepiece of the Edinburgh Christmas lights
display. The tree is a gift each year, from Norway.
The buildings in the background are:
- Church of Scotland's Assembly Halls in Mound Place (with
two large towers)
- Tolbooth St John's Church, now 'The Hub' at the
foot of Castle Hill (with tall steeple).
It had been dark for
some time when this photo was taken at 5.20pm on December 20, about
the shortest day of the year. |
