Decorated Police Box

This photograph of a decorated Police Box on the corner of Richmond Lane and Gilmour Street (between Nicolson Street and Pleasance in Edinburgh Old Town) was taken in October 2010.

Streets

The street on the left is Richmond Lane.  The street in the lower right corner is Gilmour Street.  The street at the top of the picture is Pleasance.  The buildings on the left in the background are on the east side of Pleasance.

The church, just visible on the left-hand side of the photograph is on the corner of Brown Street and Pleasance.   It was originally Charteris Memorial Church, then became Kirk o' Field Parish Church in 1953 following the amalgamation of several congregations.

More Photos

This box was decorated a few years ago.  Here is a photograph of it taken in May 2008.

Since I took the photo in 2008:

-   the windows have been covered, some with artwork.

-  graffiti on the top of the box at the back has been removed, but more graffiti has appeared on the door at the front of the box, facing The Pleasance.
