Ronnie Brown
'The Corries'
Buccleuch Street
"This photo of Buccleuch Street and the end of
West Cross-causeway that I found on the EdinPhoto web site shows the house
that Ronnie Brown of 'The Corries' fame lived in as a youngster.

His house was No 1 Buccleuch
Street, on this corner,
directly above the blue paint store.
Our family lived at No 2 Buccleuch Street.
That was across the road, on the other side of Buccleuch Street. You
can see part of our house to the left of the church in this photo which
looks to the south up Chapel Street from a point close to Ronnie Brown's
house."

Meeting with Ronnie
"In the 1940s and 1950s, I used to see Ronnie leave to go
to Boroughmuir school at about 8.30 each morning.
I met up with
Ronnie in 1975 at Royal Air Force, Laarbruch in Germany. The Corries were doing a tour of
our bases there, entertaining the troops. I went backstage after the
show to meet him and we had a bit of a blether about Buccleuch Street.
Small world, eh?"
