South Queensferry "The Loony Dook" 1 January each year |

The Loony Dook is held at Boat House Steps, South Queensferry, close to the Forth Bridges, at noon each New Year's Day. The event, which raises money for charity began in 1988. Participants bathe (briefly) in the Firth of Forth. Wet suits are not allowed. Fancy dress is encouraged. Participants meet at The Moorings Pub 24-26 Hopetoun Road, South Queensferry from 10.45am to 11.00am before the event, and again there after the event. 2006 The photograph above is one of several that I took on 1 January 2006. The temperature was fairly mild, about 5 degrees C. |
