passes through Edinburgh
on June 14, 2014

Approaching the end of it's 288-day journey through all 70 Commonwealth nations and territories, in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games that open in Glasgow this evening, the Queen's Baton finally reached Scotland in June 2014.

The baton passed across the border from England to Scotland on the morning of June 14, 2014.  Later that morning, it reached Edinburgh.

Here are photos of the baton as it passed through Edinburgh.

An Edinburgh tram is in the background.  Trams started running again in Edinburgh on 31 May 2014, for the first time since 1956.  There is now just one tram route:  Edinburgh Airport to York Place.
