Craigleith
Quarry
Craigleith
Quarry was the source of much of the stone used in Edinburgh. The
quarry was situated about a mile to the north-west of the centre of
Edinburgh, just north of the Edinburgh-Queensferry road. The quarry
has now been filled, and the site is now a Sainsbury supermarket.
The
scale of the quarry can be gauged from the height of the houses at the
bottom of this picture. |
