Royal Terrace and Regent Terrace enter from the left hand side of this area, then sweep back alongside Regent Road reaching the old Royal High School building at the bottom corner.

The Royal High School is currently (2002-3) being considered as a possible home to house a Scottish National Photographic Centre.
