Submitted daguerreotypes to Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society.

1855

Making Daguerreotype Likenesses at West End, Redruth.

c.1858

Believed to be taking photographs at Perran Foundry workshop.

1862

Listed as a photographer at High Street, Falmouth.  In April 1862, it was reported that:  "a fire destroyed a small and very old house occupied by Mr Stephens, photographer in the High Street, Falmouth.

1864

J C Stephens has a photographic studio at Church Street, Falmouth

1865

J C Stephens & Co - photographers in Falmouth

mid-1860s

Appointed Manager - later Secretary - of the Art Union of Cornwall

1866

Appointed Assistant or Deputy Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society.  He was awarded a First Silver Medal for managing this department and a Bronze Medal for vignetted portraits.

1872

Listed as a photographer at 42 High Street, Falmouth

1870s

Photographic studio of Stephens & Co / Stephens & Siddons at 42 High Street, Falmouth
