Alexander Crowe "Alexander Crow(e) was a cousin of my great grandfather of the same name. The E was added to look better at the foot of his photographs! His parents, James and Mary Crow, are buried at Auchenbrae, Fordoun, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, beside a large informative tombstone of his parents and family." Alexander Crowe "I have a diary of my great grandfather Alex Crow, who returned to Scotland in 1888 for a holiday. During the holiday, he stayed with his cousin, the photographer Alexander Crowe, who was then retired and living in Blairgowrie. I published the diary some years ago. There are copies of it in the libraries on George IV Bridge, at Montrose and I think Dundee or Perth My rather agnostic great grandfather, did remark in his diary that his cousin, photographer Alexander Crowe, was very involved in church committees in this retirement period. That's about the only comment in the diary about Alexander Crowe as a person." Laurie Richards, Papanui, Christchurch, New Zealand: May 20+21, 2012 |
