This view from the top of Calton Hill looks to the west towards Princes Street with the Scott Monument in the centre of the picture, with the higher ground of Edinburgh Castle Rock immediately to the left. The is prominent in the foreground centre-right, but Princes Street leading past the Scott Monument towards the Dugald Stewart Monument can barely be seen.
