John Horsburgh & Son

At the time of the 1881, John Horsburgh b.1835 lived at 10 Strathearn Road with his wife, five sons, five daughters and two servants.  One of the sons was the photographer, John Alfred Horsburgh.  [1881 Census]

From January 1889 until he retired in October 1898, John Horsburgh was in partnership with his son John Alfred Horsburgh, operating as John Horsburgh & Son.

John Horsburgh and his son continued to claim patronage of Her Majesty Queen Victoria until her death in 1901.  They also had a studio at Dublin Hotel, Victoria Street, London WC, used during the month of May each year.  See the wording on the back of this Horsburgh Cabinet Print.
