These are the brief details that I have extracted from the Edinburgh & Leith Post Office Directories:

-  From 1902 until 1923, Alfred Henry Rushbrook worked at Grange Photo Works, 161 Causewayside.   He advertised:

A Hy Rushbrook

-  From 1924 until his death in 1937, he worked  beside KW Murray at Nicolson Street.

Photographs in Collections

Photographs by Alfred H Rushbrook are in a number of Edinburgh collections.  In particular, photos taken to record the streets of the St Leonard's district of Edinburgh, before the buildings were demolished as part of a slum-clearance program are held by the Edinburgh Room at Edinburgh Central Library, the National Library of Scotland and the Edinburgh City Archive.

These 'St Loenard's Survey' photographs are in two volumes, one dated 1927, the other 1929.  They were commissioned by the Edinburgh Improvement Trust.

The Life of Alfred Henry Rushbrook

Alfred Henry Rushbrook's son, Dr Frank Rushbrook CBE,   has undertaken the very worthwhile task of writing an account of his father's life and attempting to trace some of his photographs.

Thank you to Dr Frank Rushbrook for allowing me to reproduce the following account.
