What was this Occasion? |

Visit of King and Queen around 1946? The absence of flags is odd. - Dim-out skirts have been removed from street lamps. This happened around 1945. - Tram's lowest side panel is cream. These changed to maroon soon after 1946 - Street lamp brackets are small. These were replaced by larger ones about 1950. - Tram loading islands are small. These were enlarged in 1951. - Frederick Street tram junction was lifted in 1952. |

Trams in that condition could be any time from 1930 to 1948, when the ivory panels were finally removed from trams. Was there a Parade for the Edinburgh Festival? |

Beside Holyrood Park - outside the Scottish Parliament Building
COW: "Salty"
"Salty" was sponsored by the Scottish Executive and stood in the grounds outside
the Scottish Parliament
at the foot of Salisbury Crags. Unfortunately, the cow was damaged (twice)
and removed before I got chance
to take its photo from the other side in the early morning light with the
Scottish Parliament in the background.

Leith Docks
COW: "Mooies on the Waterfront"
This is one of three cows close to the south-east corner of the Scottish Executive Office at Leith Docks.
The purple cow in the background is "Circus Cow". The Scottish Executive is also in the background.
The Scottish Executive office has since been re-named the Scottish Government office.
