The Royal Mile

Edinburgh's Royal Mile runs down the ridge of a hill, extending from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace.

In the photograph above, taken with a long lens on a fine spring afternoon, we look down the Royal Mile from the Camera Obscura, close to Edinburgh Castle, towards St Giles Church and Holyrood Palace (not in the picture), with the East Lothian coast of the Firth of Forth in the background.

The telephone box at in the photo is close the junction in the Royal Mile reached from The Mound.  It is situated outside Deacon Brodie's Tavern.
