Awards

All the cabinet prints from A Swan Watson that I have seen show the same awards
  -  a cup awarded in 1885 by Edinburgh  Photographic Club
  -  the fronts and backs of medals awarded between 1886 and 1891.

It was in 1891 that that Andrew Swan Watson opened his Edinburgh studio at Bruntsfield.

Dates of Cabinet Prints

From 1891

The cabinet prints would have been numbered chronologically from 1891 onwards. A Swan Watson's studio remained at Bruntsfield until 1958, but cabinet prints were probably produced there only until around 1900.

No 3302 above has a theatrical appearance, but is probably a photograph from a session in A Swan Watson's studio.  This photo is dated on the back, 1896.

None of the other photos has a date, except the final one above, which is dated July 1902.  This photo is much narrower than a cabinet print, but the mount has been cut to cabinet print size, perhaps to allow it to fit into a Victorian photograph album designed to hold cartes de visite and cabinet prints.

This final photograph may suggest that by mid-1902, A Swan Watson (like many other photographers) had stopped producing cabinet prints and had moved on to other sizes of photograph.
