Swanston Village

Here is another attractive view of Swanston in James Patrick's "Castle Series" of postcards.  This rural scene with the small haystacks in the field and Swanston village in the background lies only about five miles from the centre of Edinburgh..

This postcard was posted from Edinburgh to Helensburgh on 10 September 1905.  It was sent by a mother to her son, Master C Allan, three days after she sent him another postcard in the same series.  On the card above, her message was:

"Dear C,  We are having lovely weather.  Hope you are too.  I expected a letter from you today.  You said you would write.  Perhaps you are too busy.  I will write you a long letter tomorrow.  Mother."

This was the first of four postcards that were sent to Master C Allan by his mother.  They were posted on 7th, 9th, 11th and 15th September 1905.
