Mural
I've not
sampled the food in this cafe, but I like the mural on its bricked-up
window. It adds a touch of colour to the corner of Anchorfield and
Hawthornvale, Leith.
Please
email me if you know of any similar artwork on windows of other cafes
or shops in Edinburgh

Thank you to Rosalyn Carey (née Shaw) for sending me the message
below about Anchorfield Playground, and also for commenting on this
photo taken at
Anchorfield in 1910:

8 Anchorfield
"I was born in 8
Anchorfield in 1938 and I just want to say that The Haven cafe used
to be the Co-op (called 'the store') and we used to buy our
'rations' there.
When you entered the shop
there was a long, wooden counter (the length of the shop) on the
left where you made your purchases and the cash desk was on the
right. You handed money/coupons to the staff and they sent it over
to the cash desk via overhead zip wire, so the staff never actually
handled the money!"
