Acknowledgement
Thank you to Ian McHaffie, Edinburgh, for providing the details below.
Ian has been searching for all the Greek inscriptions he could find in Scotland. He
has found about 30 in Edinburgh, including this one on Sotires Georgiades'
grave.

Translation
The last two lines of the inscription are in Greek.
The translation is:
BLESSED ARE THE DEAD
WHO DIE IN THE LORD
|
SOURCE: And I heard a voice
from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord
henceforth.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from
their labours, for their deeds follow them!”
Revelation 14:13

Names
Ian comments:
"Sotires presumably is a variant
of the Greek word for 'Saviour' or 'Protector'
Georgiades means 'Son of George', like his
wife's name Davidson means 'Son of David'."
