Granton Harbour

Eastern Breakwater

Looking North

I took this photo when I went for a walk along Granton Breakwater at noon on Christmas Eve, 2010, when the shadows were at their shortest!  The sun shone all day.

Granton Eastern Harbour is on the left.  The Firth of Forth is on the right.

Straight ahead are two 'white boxes' on the breakwater:

-  The first is close to where the breakwater turns and heads NW.  It was from here that the Royal Forth Yacht Club used to raise the flags for the start of their races in the 1970s.

-  The second is at what is now the end of the breakwater.  The breakwater used to extend a little further onto a wooden structure.  It was  a popular spot for fishing.

The coast of Fife, about five miles to the north, can be seen beyond the breakwater.
