Waterfront Edinburgh is managing developments in this part of Edinburgh Waterfront.

-  Construction began with the creation of  Waterfront Avenue and Saltire Square.  New housing is now being built around Saltire Square, and major landmark buildings are envisaged at the western side of Granton Square and on a new island proposed for the Firth of Forth.

See the artist's impression and the initial plans for this island, below.  However, following criticism of the initial plans, the latest proposals, at March 2006, are to create a more craggy island, possibly thistle shaped.  [Edinburgh Evening News  March 22, 2006:  p.3]

Forth Ports Authority are managing developments in this part of Edinburgh Waterfront.

- Construction has begun.  Some of the roads have been laid out.  The first apartments at the southern end of Granton Middle Pier, close to Granton Square are due to be occupied during 2006.

-  Other apartments have been built on the western side of Middle Pier, close to the Royal Forth Yacht Club clubhouse.   The map below gives an indication of the proposed layout, and the much reduced harbour size with its new moorings.  Unfortunately the legends on this plan are barely legible

Forth Ports Authority have also announced plans for developments in Leith Western Harbour and Port of Leith (part of Leith Docks).  They have branded all three of their developments as 'Edinburgh Forthside'
