Location

When I first added this picture to the web site, it was described as being the cycle track at Pilrig Park, close to the junction of Bonnington Road and Pilrig Street.  The large houses in the background were thought to be in Pilrig Street.

However, I can now thank Neil Lawrence for sending me the 2008 photograph above, taken in Harrison Park.  This shows that the cycling photograph was in fact taken in Harrison Park and that the large houses in the background are on the far bank (the southern bank) of the Union Canal.

Neil added:

Harrison Park

"I remember cycling around this track in Harrison Park as a young lad."
