'The World'

The Ship

'The World' is a luxury cruise liner, with 110 owner-occupied residences.  It was launched in 2002 and sails around the world, stopping in most ports for between two and five days.  The photograph above was taken on the ship's first visit to Edinburgh.

This BBC web site page refers to the route being taken by 'The World'.  The ship sailed into Leith Harbour, Edinburgh from Newcastle, then sailed on to the Norwegian fjords.

Leith Western Harbour

The photograph above was  taken from beside the car park behind the new Asda store at Newhaven, at 7.40pm on 14 June 2011.  This view looks to the east towards 'The World', berthed at Leith Western Harbour.  Ocean Terminal is in the background.
