West Harbour Road close to Granton Square

Misty Afternoon

Here is the eastern end of West Harbour Road, as it approaches Granton Square.  The Commodore Hotel on the eastern side of Granton Square can just be seen through the mist.

The road leading out of the picture on the right leads to William Waugh's scrap yard.

Across the road, just out of the picture on the left, is Nicky's Place, serving hot and cold food.

Edinburgh Marathon - 2003

The 2nd photo above shows  Edinburgh Marathon runners leaving Granton Square and entering West Harbour Road, running in the direction of Silverknowes.

In 2004, Edinburgh Marathon runners also ran along West Harbour Road,  but in the opposite direction.  The route was changed for 2004 to save the runners the difficult task of having to run up the hill at Silverknowes at the 17-mile stage.
